Save settings snapshots, move settings from staging to live as portable JSON, see changes in plain language, undo any restore. Not a backup.

== Description ==

WellTend Snapshots (renamed from Site Config Manager) is for exporting, importing and comparing your site's settings. It turns them into a portable, readable file you can restore from. It is a plugin from AllWPCare, a family of free, powerful plugins for taking care of WordPress sites, with plain-language guides at allwpcare.com.

**Settings, not a backup.** A settings snapshot saves your settings, not posts, media or files. Keep a real backup too.

* **Export** WordPress core settings (General, Writing, Reading, Discussion, Media, Permalinks, Privacy), the active theme's customizer settings and the settings of popular plugins (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, Admin and Site Enhancements, WellTend Site and Admin Toolkit by AllWPCare, WellTend Health Monitor by AllWPCare, WooCommerce general/products/tax/accounts/emails, WP Mail SMTP) to one JSON file.
* **Any other plugin or theme**: every other option that is safe to save is kept too, shown by its option name when it has no plain name. These are only restored when you tick them, one by one, and never deleted.
* **Import** that file on another site, for example staging to live. You always see a preview of exactly what will change first.
* **Diff** two snapshots, a snapshot and the live site, or a file and the live site, in plain language ("Site title changed from 'A' to 'B'") or as raw JSON.
* **Restore settings** from any settings snapshot. A safety snapshot is taken before every restore, so you can undo.
* **WP-CLI**: `wp awc config export`, `import`, `diff`, `snapshot`, `restore`. `diff` exits with status 1 when settings differ, so CI can use it.

= Safe to commit to git =

Exports are deterministic (sorted keys, stable types): unchanged settings always produce a byte-identical file. Passwords, API keys, tokens, licence keys and salts are replaced with a marker and are never exported. Importing never writes the marker, so a target site keeps its own secrets. Imports are JSON only and PHP objects are rejected.

= Looking for site tweaks? =

Looking for tweaks like disabling comments or XML-RPC? Those live in WellTend Site and Admin Toolkit by AllWPCare, and WellTend Snapshots saves them in every snapshot automatically.

= The WellTend menu =

WellTend Snapshots adds one "Snapshots" screen (tabs: Snapshots, Export / Import) under a shared "WellTend" menu. The WellTend dashboard lists the WellTend plugins you have installed and the others in the family. It is static: nothing is requested from any server.

= Not included =

Payment gateway settings are never captured. Multisite: the plugin works per site when activated on a sub-site; there are no network-admin features in this version.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is this a backup plugin? =

No — it saves your settings, not posts, media or files. Keep a real backup too.

= I used Site Config Manager. What changed? =

Only the name. Site Config Manager is now WellTend Snapshots. Your snapshots and settings are kept, and old links open the new screen. Install WellTend Snapshots, deactivate the old "Site Config Manager" plugin, then activate WellTend Snapshots. You can delete the old plugin later, while WellTend Snapshots is active: your snapshots and settings stay, even if "Delete all snapshots and settings" is on.

= What does a settings snapshot capture? =

WordPress core settings, the active theme's customizer settings, the settings of supported plugins (including WellTend Site and Admin Toolkit and WellTend Health Monitor), and the other options of any plugin or theme that are safe to save. It never captures posts, pages, comments, users, media, theme or plugin files, or passwords and API keys. Caches, logs, scheduled tasks, user roles, active plugins, automatic update choices, version markers and widgets are never saved.

= Will restoring change settings of plugins it does not know? =

Only if you tick them. "Restore everything" and a plain import leave other plugin and theme settings alone. When you tick one, you confirm that you checked it, a safety snapshot is taken first, and Undo puts back exactly what was changed. Nothing is ever deleted.

= What does "By a plugin" mean in the snapshot list? =

Another plugin, such as WellTend Site and Admin Toolkit, saved that copy of your settings before it changed something. These copies are kept until you delete them, like the ones you save yourself.

= Does the export contain my passwords or API keys? =

No. Known secret fields and any field whose name looks like a secret (key, secret, token, password, api, licence, salt, auth, credential) are redacted.

= Why is the site URL missing from my export? =

Environment settings (site URL, home URL, admin email, uploads path) are excluded by default so a staging file cannot break the live site. Pass `--include-env` to the CLI, or tick the option in the export screen, to include them.

= How do I undo a settings restore? =

Every settings restore or import creates a "pre-restore" snapshot first. Restore that snapshot to undo.

= Is `wp config` affected? =

No. The commands live under `wp awc config`.

== Screenshots ==

1. Compare a snapshot with your site: every change grouped by area, in plain words, with the value now and in the snapshot.
2. The raw JSON view of the same changes, for developers.
3. Restore only what you tick. The last step lists every change, and a safety snapshot is saved first.
4. The Snapshots list: save a snapshot, open one to compare or restore it, download or delete it.
5. Export / Import: move settings between sites as one JSON file.

== Changelog ==

= 0.5.0 =
* Renamed from Site Config Manager. The plugin is now "WellTend Snapshots" (folder and text domain `welltend-snapshots`, screen `admin.php?page=awc-settings-snapshots`). Your snapshots and settings are kept: they use the same data. Old links to the "Site Config" screen open the new one. If the old "Site Config Manager" plugin, or an early copy of WellTend Snapshots in the `settings-snapshots` folder, is still active, WellTend Snapshots waits and asks you to deactivate the old one (one click). Deleting the old plugin later keeps your snapshots and settings while WellTend Snapshots is active, and deleting WellTend Snapshots keeps them while the old plugin is active.
* New: Other plugin and theme settings. Snapshots and exports now also keep the options of any plugin or theme that are safe to save (shown by option name when there is no plain name). They are only restored when you tick them, count as sensitive changes, are never deleted, and undo puts back exactly what changed. Caches, logs, sessions, WordPress internals, version markers, secret keys and widgets are never saved; very large or unsafe values are left out and counted.
* New: scheduled snapshots can include other plugin and theme settings (Settings, off by default).
* New: copies that other plugins save before they change something show as "By a plugin" instead of "Manual". They are never deleted automatically.
* Safer: other plugin and theme settings never write a name that differs from an existing setting only in spaces, capital letters or accents; on a network only the network admin can restore them; automatic update choices, theme folders and network limits are never saved; options a restore creates are not loaded on every page.
* Clearer names for nested email settings in the list of sensitive changes (for example "Sender email address" instead of "mail › from_email").
* WP-CLI: `--only=other.options:<option>` and `--all-other` for restore and import.
* Fixed: older snapshots that kept an empty WooCommerce list (for example "Sell to specific countries") as empty text showed "No differences" and could not be restored. They now compare and restore normally. If a snapshot ever cannot be checked, the screen now says so and lists why, instead of showing "No differences".
* The admin menu is now called "WellTend": the screen is under WellTend › Snapshots.
* New plugin icon: the "Snap" label tile shared by the AllWPCare family.
* Changed: the result of a restore, import, save or delete now shows as a message at the bottom of the screen, with Undo, like the other AllWPCare plugins. Settings a restore had to skip are still listed in the page.

= 0.4.0 =
* New name: "Site Config Manager by AllWPCare". Now a pure settings manager: export, import & compare settings.
* The Modules tab, the module settings and the `/modules` REST routes were removed. They moved to the new WellTend Site and Admin Toolkit by AllWPCare, which Site Config Manager snapshots automatically (provider ids `toolkit.<module>`). The old `awc_scm_modules` option is cleaned up on uninstall.
* Clearer wording: this saves settings, not a backup. First-run notice on the Snapshots tab lists what is and is not captured.
* Fixed the alignment of the row actions (Compare, Restore settings, Download, Delete) in the Snapshots table at all screen widths.

= 0.3.0 =
* Part of the AllWPCare plugin family: the admin now lives under a shared "AllWPCare" menu with a family dashboard. Site Config Manager is a single "Site Config" screen with Snapshots, Export / Import and Modules tabs.
* WP-CLI commands moved to the shared namespace: `wp awc config ...` (was `wp site-config ...`). Same subcommands, flags and exit codes.
* REST namespace is now `awc-scm/v1` (was `scmgr/v1`). Internal prefixes are now `awc_scm_` (options, hooks, filters, database table). Settings, modules and snapshots from 0.2.0 are not migrated: export before upgrading if you need them.
* New plugin name: "Site Config Manager by AllWPCare – Export, Import & Compare Settings".
* Icons are now Lucide.

= 0.2.0 =
* Admin interface: Snapshots, Export / Import and Modules screens with a plain-language diff view, raw JSON view, restore preview and one-click undo.
* Eleven setting modules (all off by default).
* WordPress Playground demo blueprint.

= 0.1.0 =
* Initial development release: providers, snapshots, export, import, diff, restore, REST API and WP-CLI.
