WellTend Snapshots export diff viewer
Drop in two settings exports from WellTend Snapshots, one from before a change and one from after. You get a list of what is different, in plain sentences, grouped by area.
Your files are read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works
An export is one JSON file of your site's settings. This page reads two of them and lists every setting that differs, grouped by area, using the plugin's own wording. A long value that looks like a password or key is hidden.
How to use the result
- Check the list against what you meant to change. Look first at any line you did not expect. A plugin update can change settings on its own.
- Read the notes above the list. They warn you about files from different sites or WordPress versions.
- Developer view shows raw names and values. Copy as text and Download .md save the list.
What it does not do
- It does not change any site. To put settings back, use the plugin's restore. It takes a snapshot first, so you can undo it.
- It cannot tell who changed a setting or when.
- It does not look at posts, pages, media or files. See the WellTend Snapshots page for what the plugin saves.
FAQ
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are compared in your browser. Nothing is sent or stored. To check, open your browser's network panel (F12, then Network) and add a file.
Where do I get the two files?
In WellTend Snapshots, go to Snapshots → Export / Import and press Download settings file. Do it before a change and again after. The command wp awc config export --file=before.json makes the same file. The name looks like site-config-example.com-2026-10-30.json.
Why do I see 'Secret' instead of a password?
Exports never hold passwords, keys, tokens or salts. They hold a marker instead. This tool lists those as secrets and does not compare them.
A setting shows as 'not saved in one file'. Was it removed?
No. An area missing from one file is shown as skipped, not removed. Only some areas may have been exported, or one site may lack a plugin.
Does this compare my posts, pages or plugin files?
No. An export holds settings only. It is not a backup, and this tool cannot restore anything. To apply a file, use WellTend Snapshots. It saves a snapshot first so you can undo.
